Join us alongside The Watershed Center and Boulder Watershed Collective for the screening of the documentary, Fire Lives Here. This documentary is an "intimate journey into the heart of Colorado's Front Range, where fire is not just a threat--but a force of renewal. Through the voices of scientists, firefighters, and forest stewards, this documentary reveals how fire shapes the land, restores our forests, and holds the key to protecting the places we love."Â

The evening will begin with an introduction to our nonprofit partners, The Watershed Center and Boulder Watershed Collective. This will be followed by the film screening (25 mins) with a short Q&A after. During the Q&A, panelists will accept questions from all audience members but will prioritize questions submitted in advance. To submit your questions before the event, use this link.Â
As a reminder, the topic of fire safety and danger can be sensitive to folks attending the event. If you have anything personal you would like to share, please be considerate of others who may have experienced personal tragedy from a wildfire.

"Established in 2005, The Watershed Center has deep roots in Boulder County and is led by an engaged board of partners. We value science and community, and embrace these values to create on-the-ground projects that protect and restore ecosystems. Our history includes three phases that connect to significant watershed events: legacy mining, floods, and wildfires. From 2005 to 2015, we oversaw legacy mine cleanup in Left Hand Creek. From 2015 to 2019, we led flood recovery in the Left Hand Watershed. In 2019, we expanded our geography to include all Boulder County watersheds and added forest restoration to our services. In 2020, we strengthened our forest restoration leadership through coordination of the St. Vrain Forest Health Partnership. Today, we continue expanding our capacity, expertise, and partnerships to address an ever-changing landscape of watershed challenges and opportunities."
The Boulder Watershed Collective is an organization committed to strengthening the resilience, health, and climate adaptability of the Boulder Creek Watershed.Â
Our work includes large-scale wildfire mitigation and forest health projects, defensible space and home hardening in high-risk communities, and restoration of wet meadows and healthy riverscapes to improve water storage, ecological function, and natural wildfire buffers. We conduct water quality monitoring and riverscape assessments and partner with landowners to design and implement solutions tailored to their values and site-specific needs.
Central to everything we do is community leadership. We specialize in building trusted relationships, facilitating inclusive engagement, and supporting neighborhoods in co-creating climate-adaptive pathways that reflect local priorities. Our impact is rooted in partnership: a powerful network of communities, researchers, agencies, and organizations who work together to create lasting, landscape-scale resilience.
The Boulder Watershed Collective exists to knit these efforts together—aligning science, stewardship, and community action to help the watershed thrive in a changing climate.
